We’re so excited to introduce you to our new premises The Southbourne Learning Hub!
After 4 years of building a business, supporting local families and growing a brilliant team of tutors, we’re very excited to be bringing the new Southbourne Learning Hub to Southbourne. We’re so grateful to everyone that has supported this journey – recommending Conexus, trusting us with their children, or encouraging us along the way. So much of the business growth has come about through personal recommendations, and that support has made a real difference.
We spoke to our Principal Director, Rachel Chipchase about the experience…
How do you feel about opening up your own location?
I feel really excited and proud to be bringing this space to Southbourne. Starting a business is scary and a big risk and to see it coming together at this new hub is so rewarding. It’s just in the perfect location too, an area that means a lot to me personally and is very much a part of my life. It feels like the start of an exciting chapter for the business and for me!
What plans do you have for your sessions and your students?
The hub will mean that we can run more after school sessions and be more flexible with days and times. It will allow us to set up home education groups, support children through the council under Alternative Provision, and much more – parent workshops, careers information, weekend activities, seasonal events. I’m hoping the hub will feel like a home away from home for some of our young people – the ability to make it exactly right for what we need is really important for creating a safe and welcoming space.
How will this benefit the local community?
We want to welcome the local community as much as possible and find out what local families and businesses would like to see the space used for. We have plans to run evening sessions for parents, like SEND support, GCSE guidance, careers advice, school transitions, and much more. Also weekend and holiday activities to provide more options for children and create a place for families to support each other. I would love to collaborate with other local businesses in Southbourne to see how we can collectively help our young people and provide opportunities that go above and beyond education.
What plans do you have for the future?
I have so many ideas for what I can bring into this space! I’d love to get some science based workshops, maybe music groups, parent meet ups, a bit of networking and co-working. I love the idea of toy swaps and book swaps too – simple ideas to get people together and share our resources, to keep items out of landfill. I’m also really excited to hear from families and the community though – what is missing in the area? What do children and young people need right now? If I can make it happen, I will try my very best!
