Frequently Asked Questions

Does Conexus follow the National Curriculum?

Conexus is not required to follow a set scheme or plan of lessons as we are focused on being flexible to adapt to each child’s individual needs. This usually matches what the child is covering in school and therefore the national curriculum.

Why do I need a tutor?

If you feel that your child needs additional support in a subject, beyond what is offered in school then a tutor can be of benefit. Tutors can provide support especially through exam periods such as GCSEs to work towards achieving a predicted grade and/or boosting their confidence.

How much does a tutor cost?

Our prices are £28 for an hour or £48 for two. This joint price can be spread across different subjects and days. This is the same price for both in person and online. Occasionally short sessions are offered with different pricing.

When’s the best time to start tuition?

Ultimately this will be different for each child, but frequently children benefit from tuition in the lead up to exam season or if there has been a point of concern such as struggling in class, a lower grade than expected or not making progress. But it’s never too early to start tuition, it will only build on their skills and confidence.

What qualifications & experience do the tutors have?

Tutors working with Conexus are all DBS checked and are on the DBS Update Service for continuously updated records. They also do PREVENT training and CPD safeguarding in line with KCSIE (Keeping Children Safe in Education). All Conexus tutors are fully qualified teachers, with school experience for their subject areas. Many of the tutors also have experience in Senior Leadership and examiner roles, as well as working with children with a variety of needs, including SEN.
